Spring is known for its fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables that are vibrant in color and great in taste. If you are looking for flavorful spring fruits that are packed with nutrients, here is a guide that you should not miss.

Spring Is Here

Many of us eagerly anticipate spring after the long cold winter. It is a beautiful season with exciting weather where all the fresh fruits and vegetables start popping up in the market to brighten our day. Artichokes

Carrots

Carrots are tasty, crunchy, and rich in nutrients. They are a powerhouse of beta-carotene which helps maintain good vision. There are many different colors of carrots that can range from orange to purple and white. Carrots are great for vitamin C, fiber, potassium, and vitamin K. There are also delicate baby carrots that are thinner and sweeter.

Fava Beans

Fava beans can be found in spring but only for a limited period of time. They may also be called broad beans in some regions. When shopping for fava beans, look out for fuzzy-looking pods that are bright green in color that feel and look fresh. You may also wish to split open the pods of the fava beans before pinching each bean. If they look bright green and tender, those are the ones to get.

Leeks

Leeks are a classic spring vegetable even though they can easily be obtained throughout the year. Look out for leeks that have straight, firm, dark green leaves with white necks. For leeks that are bruised, yellow, soft, or discolored, avoiding them is your best bet.

Peas

Frozen peas are a staple in most households. However, if you are looking for fresh peas, spring is the best time to get them. They have pods that are edible and crisp whereas on their own, they are tender and sweet which are ideal for soups and stews.
